Earth Care Resource Fair – Saturday, April 17

The Scriptures that we share call us to be Stewards of the world garden, as we face the challenges of climate change, and the need to live sustainably so others may simply live. It is a way of life that respects the earth because it is God’s creation, “the work of God’s hands.” It is a way of life that respects all people: “Whatever you do to the least of my people that you do to me” (Matt. 25:40).
The Urban Center for Sustainability is presenting its 3rd annual Earth Care Resource Fair on Saturday, April 17 from noon to 3:00 at Blessed Trinity Church, 4700 N. 39 St. in Milwaukee. Focusing on water conservation, there will be a presentation on rain gardens, information on rain barrels, ways to save energy in homes, children’s activities and more. Open to the public with free food and “green” give-aways from CFLs to rain barrels. But the information is invaluable.
I especially encourage you and someone on your staff to come and meet Anthony Taylor of WE Energies to learn about Energy Stewards, a program tailored to help your congregation save energy so you can put more money into your mission instead of your utility bills. The challenge facing us and future generations is a big one. By uniting our efforts we can do much to honor creation and the Creator by being faithful stewards of the earth. Our call is concerned with not only human rights and justice, but also with the welfare of the planet. Being pro-life includes being concerned about climate change, and living so that there is enough for everyone, forever.
