Friday, February 1st - Workshop on "Pastoral Care for Returning Veterans" Marquette University Alumni Memorial Ballroom
The workshop will be held Friday, February 1st 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at Marquette University Alumni Memorial Union Ballroom [500 W. Wells] is for pastors, pastoral workers, vets and their families to discuss and develop models of reaching out to meet the needs of those whose lives are changed by war.
After a year of working with and hearing from Vets we know that the need for spiritual care for vets and their families remains critical. We believe that churches have an important role to play in the healing process. This is a “working” workshop: we intend for participants to take away concrete plans of how to reach out to vets and their families. Please feel free to share this information with others. To register for the workshop or for questions please contact Michael Duffey at michael.duffey@marquette.edu . Flyer for the workshop with more details.
Tuesday, January 15 - Marquette University Peacemaking Center Openhouse
The Marquette University Center for Peacemaking will hold an "open house" on January 15th, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Center, headed by Director G. Simon Harak, S. J., and Associate Director Ms. Deidre Hughes, is located at 735 West 17th St., between Wisconsin and Wells.
Your mere presence would delight us. But visitors are also invited to bring a "peace offering" to the Center. That is, anything they think will help promote peacemaking. So: potluck food - especially chocolate; juice, soda, ground coffee and hot drinks - especially hot chocolate; books, DVDs and Videos, CDs, framed posters and/or photos, contacts with Peace and Justice groups in the city. And most importantly - a talent and time that they would be willing to "donate" to the peacemaking efforts of the Center.
